Can you go a little more in-depth on this? I've only been on Oppo since the March redesign.

About "Orloving": Before Kinja came into being, the URL system for the website worked in a very different way. Typical user pages were located at jalopnik.com/users/name_here , and that URL system also operated on other websites (e.g. kotaku.com/users/name_here ). To access one's own page, the notifications button and others would send one to jalopnik.com/me , and knowing whose page /me was was up to the login scripts.

This brings us to some comedy. Because standard links would cut off at a certain length or be just a string of numbers, people started hand-coding links that appeared to lead to legitimate conversations but were actually links to jalopnik.com/me . Since any link to that URL would initiate the scripts and take someone to their own page, lots of people were snookered into clicking links (not previewing them) with the description "this guy is a troll", "who approved this guy?" or "this guy is just scum" or any of several others. Commence "hey, they're talking about me?" followed by "waaaaait a minute".

It came to be known as "orloving" after Raph himself took the bait and then reacted entertainingly.
